AOX - Bokken Infinity Loop

Bokken Infinity Loop.

It takes time to create a beautiful infinity.

This Bokken Infinity Loop recorded at the Aikido summer seminar in Denmark 2024. This infinity loop was lead by Heike Howein, with participants from Croatia, Germany & Denmark Anders, Derek, Laura. Morten, Peter, Ralf, Rebekka & Renata.

Music by Michel Berckmans. Filmed by Alain De Halleux.

Bokken Infinity Loop

Starting with the question ‘how to move smoothly from a first cut with the bokken to a series of different attacks from various directions and thus combine different cuts fluently?’, the shape of a square and the passage of Nage emerged. As soon as you enter into a relationship with the three other people and begin to perceive the entire space, this leads to a state of flow (Ki No Nagare).

The Loop can be extended by three people at a time – as this increases complexity significantly and all participants have to act at roughly the same pace, a person who sets the beat is extremely helpful.

Bokken Infinity Loop is a creation born in one of the AOX (Aikido Open Exploration Space) workshop.
